How it works

This is special access to the first 38 days of the infamous Sweet Talk writing challenge, where a new prompt unlocks daily, Monday to Friday, for 38 total writing days (a little over 5 weeks total challenge).

You’ll spend 38 days generating raw material, tracing your recurring preoccupations, developing ideas with enough muscle to stand without a trending audio and learning how to turn the best of them into essays, posts, newsletters and pieces of writing that could only have come from you.

There are no calls, no community, no cohort to keep pace with and no ongoing commitment. You own the experience inside the community space in Circle and move through it in your own time. Immediate access to the first 7 days; the following prompts open daily.

This is for you if…

You are a writer, founder, creative, strategist, coach, artist or professionally curious person who:

  • Has plenty of knowledge but can’t always locate the live beating heart inside it
  • Is tired of arranging borrowed ideas into attractive strategies and formats without actually feeling like you made it
  • Wants to write with more conviction, specificity, personality and intellectual force
  • Has been editing their strangest or most honest ideas out too early
  • Wants a creative practice that produces actual publishable ideas, not another folder of advice
  • Would like to publish more, but refuses to become a small content factory wearing their own face

Why I made it

I have been writing professionally for almost two decades. The longer I do it, the less convinced I become that anybody graduates into being an expert.

You become better at returning, noticing and at staying with an unfinished thought after the first clever sentence has wandered off and left you to do the actual work.

This challenge gives you somewhere to practise that return.

No compulsory sharing. No requirement to make every day profitable. Plenty of structure if you do feel like sharing.

38 encounters with your own mind, and some very good tools for dealing with whatever you find in there.
